Students Wearing Masks Leave Middle School in Jersey City

In-person classes in Jersey City, New Jersey, continued into their second week, as many mask-wearing public-school students saw one another for the first time since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

Ahead of the 2021-2022 school year, New Jersey Gov Phil Murphy announced an indoor mask requirement for all “students, educators, staff, and visitors,” with limited exceptions.

Dozens of public schools in Jersey City were damaged by severe flooding earlier this month caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ida.
