A stunning £7.5m mansion is available to buy in one of Essex's most desirable villages. The huge home is on the market in the traditional village of Fryerning.

The home is set across multiple floors with six bedrooms in the main house and two more in the Couch House. There is also five reception rooms and plenty of options for sporty individuals with an indoor pool and jacuzzi, indoor gym and games room, and all-weather tennis court.

Estate agents Beresfords are selling the property, set over 16.5 acres, for around £7.5m. The property is one of several picturesque properties in a village that is like stepping back in time.

The Beresfords listing states: "Nestled in the prestigious and highly sought-after area of Fryerning, this magnificent Queen Anne-style residence is a true masterpiece and has been finished to a high standard throughout. Set behind a discreet sweeping entrance and private gates, the property offers unparalleled privacy, sophistication, and luxury living across approximately 12,000 square feet of accommodation and 16.5 acres of surrounding grounds."

This little village might look quiet at first glance, but it has a rich history that goes back to the 11th century. The parish church of St. Mary the Virgin on Blackmore Road has a stunning brick tower built in the 1400s and interestingly the village has two pubs but no shops.

To get to your nearest shop, you'd need to travel along Fryering Lane into Ingatestone, which is just a few minutes' walk away. That's where the nearest railway station is too, offering easy access in and out of London.

One of the pubs, the Cricketers Mill green, has been around since the 19th Century and has a big beer garden away from the road. The Viper is another favourite spot for locals to grab a drink. It's well-known for its biannual beer festivals, which are planned for the May and August bank holiday weekends.

Local resident Jessica Bonnett moved to the area near Fryerning with her husband and said it was "the best thing we have done". She added: "We have pubs and restaurants all within walking or cycling distance which is great. They are all a superb quality too. It's been fab living here.

"People just know who you are when you walk down the High Street [in Ingatestone]. It might be the local butchers or the other shops, they all know you by name."
