Work on Birmingham's tallest building is set to be completed next year - and residents are being given a first look at the amazing views from the top. The site is already soaring above the rest of the skyline.

The Octagon is 49-storeys high and offers sensational views across the city. This is in part due to its eight-sided shape, with it being described as the first building designed in this way to be used for residential purposes. It is set to house 370 apartments which will be available to rent inside the 155 metre building.

Sitting at the northern side of the Paradise site and overlooking Summer Row, Octagon takes full advantage of its location on the Birmingham ridge, an area of higher ground in the city centre. Construction began back in 2021 and is due to be completed in 2025.

The tower, which is already visible from across the entire city, will be taller than the BT Tower which has been the city's tallest structure for decades.

The construction of the £110 million project has been undertaken by high-rise specialist Midgard and was designed by Birmingham architecture practice Howells. It is backed by global real estate investor City Developments.

Neil McGinty, director of City Developments, said: "The original investment we made in the city with The Octagon was rightly recognised as one of the largest pieces of foreign-direct investment made in the UK regions in recent years.

"That original investment has now come to fruition as we underline our commitment to Birmingham as a world-class, international destination with a strong regional economy. The Octagon is also about creating a new landmark for the city of Birmingham."
