Stunning footage show UK's first purpose-built Serbian Orthodox church during New Year celebrations

Stunning visuals show Serbian Orthodox Christians gathering to celebrate the Julian calendar's New Year at the Holy Prince Lazar in Bournville, Birmingham, UK.

Lazarica is the UK's first purpose-built Serbian Orthodox church and is regarded as a hidden gem in the city with its colourful paintings based on medieval frescoes.

Serbian Orthodox Christians - who follow the Julian calendar - gathered on Sunday (January 12) to mark the Orthodox New Year, also known as the Old New Year.

The Old New Year falls on January 14 in the 20th and 21st centuries.
