Is it a bird, it it a plane? Potentially. Sightings of UFOs have long been a mystery, leading to much speculation about life beyond Earth. At first glance, Surrey might not appear to be an alien hotspot, but many people have reported strange sightings in the area.

With nearly 1,000 reported UFO sightings between 2021 and 2023 across the UK, we want to hear from you on any experiences you have had in Surrey. In Epsom in 2021, one person reported a 'submarine shaped object appeared at speed before rotating as it slowed down'. In Guildford, in 2022 a person reportedly saw a 'purple light moving erratically, emitting a saucer-shaped vapour trail when changing directions'.

Gatwick also appeared to be a UFO hotspot, with two reported sightings in 2022. One reported a 'large, bright, white ball of light moving slowly before stopping for a minute then moving off', while another reports a 'strange black object seen hovering in the sky from a passenger jet approaching Gatwick'.

The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that it no longer investigates UFO sightings, citing a lack of evidence of any military threat. Meanwhile, Professor Brian Cox expressed his thoughts on X, saying: "It would be great if true - it would take a bit of the pressure off our civilisation if we weren't the only means within the Milky Way by which the Universe understands itself. Sadly, as of today, I still feel that pressure, so can we perhaps focus on not messing our world up rather than hoping that, to paraphrase Sagan, someone will float down to save us from ourselves."
