The successful salon owned by two former teachers is to double in size

IT'S one of Hampshire's largest beauty salons and it's about to double in size.

The Ocean Rooms Beauty, at Ocean Village, is described as a cross between a salon and a spa and is popular among hen parties and large groups looking for a place to be pampered.

After a Covid induced struggle to survive, it's now going from strength to strength with former Botley Primary School teachers Belinda and Andy Rowles at the helm.

The salon will shortly move to Moresby Tower, just a stone's throw from the current waterfront unit, which will remain open as a hairdressers.

The expanded venue will also boast a bar and relaxation area.

Things have gone so much better than Belinda could ever have hoped when her sister asked her to take over her four-year-old beauty business in 2019 as she was moving back to Birmingham.

The success is even more remarkable considering the couple of years of Covid closures and restrictions.

Belinda told the Daily Echo: "At first, I thought it was a crazy idea as I had no background in beauty.

"However, I had experience in managing teams of people. I recruited a beauty manager for the treatments side of the business and I focus on everything else.

"Within a few months Covid hit and we genuinely doubted we would survive. It completely jeopardised our livelihood. Then we decided to focus on the positives and plan for a brighter future.

"As soon as we were allowed to reopen, we have gone from strength to strength. We simply can’t accommodate all our clients in our current building so are looking to move to premises that are twice the size.

"We have grown busier and busier since we’ve reopened and have noticed a shift in people wanting wellbeing and holistic treatments.

"We have the quality and consistency of a salon but with the luxury of a spa. What is totally unique about us is that we aren’t a salon and we aren’t a spa- we are a mix of the best of both!

We treat each and every customer with respect and aim to provide the highest level of service. We are completely accessible and inclusive. We form excellent and personal relationships with clients and uphold complete professionalism. We listen to feedback from our clients and always try and put into place their suggestions. We treat our clients as partners in our business."
