Succession finale leaves fans "exhausted" but in awe - no spoilers

Fans of the show agreed it was not about who came out on top of the family feud - but watching how it had played out.

Succession fans have crowned season finale "perfection" although admitted it had left them reeling.

Viewers of the hit show - starring Jeremy Strong, Matthew Macfadyen, Nicholas Braun, Brian Cox, Sarah Snook, Kieran Culkin and Alan Ruck as the warring members of the Roy dynasty - may not have agreed on who triumphed as story same to an end after four season, but most agreed it was watching the power struggle unfold that mattered.

Series creator Jesse Armstrong - who also created Peep Show - has said the fourth season of Succession will be the last, and fans were on tenterhooks waiting to find out which member of the Roy family would finally take over from father Logan Roy as the CEO of Waystar/Roy Co.

One tweeted: "I’m BROKEN and EXHAUSTED but, bloody hell, that was perfection on a stick."

Another observed: "The main point of the show was not about who would eventually win the power struggle, but how these individuals would ultimately destroy themselves in the battle for control."

And another said: "Not the ending we needed but the one we deserved."

One fan confessed: "#SuccessionHBO had an ending I didn’t see coming. Sad it’s over, but such a well-written and acted show."

One highlight for many was the scene in which Shiv, Roman and Kendall stayed up late in their mother's kitchen making a disgusting smoothie out of food and sauces they found for one of them to drink..

One viewer shared: "As far as I’m concerned the show ended here with Shiv, Roman, and Kendall Roy actually being siblings."

Method actor Jeremy Strong, who plays Kendall, has confessed that he actually drank the "meal fit for a king" concoction, which contained raw eggs and shells, Tabasco sauce, milk, bread crusts, cocoa powder, Branston pickle, and his sister’s saliva.

Strong said: “I did drink it. I wouldn’t know how not to drink it. He wants it that badly that he’s gonna drink whatever that is, right, but it was disgusting.”

The 44-year-old actor shaved his head to mark the end of filming.

Video shared on social media shows Keiran Culkin, 40, who plays youngest brother Roman, and Snook shaving his head before Culkin breaks a raw egg on his head.

Sarah Snook, who plays Shiv, revealed that she has welcomed her first child by sharing a picture of watching the finale while holding her baby daughter.

The 35-year-old Australian actor married comedian Dave Lawson in 2021.

Snook was pregnant during filming of the final season, as was her character.

She said: "I just watched the final episode of the final season of something that has changed my life. And now, my life has changed again. Thank you for all the love and support."
