Suge Knight 'Hit-And-Run' Video Released

A video showing rap mogul Marion "Suge" Knight ploughing into two men with his pickup truck has been released.

Superior Court Judge Ronald Coen authorised the release of the footage a day after ordering Knight, 49, to stand trial on murder and attempted murder charges.

The Death Row Records co-founder is accused of deliberately running over Terry Carter, 55, and Cle "Bone" Sloan, 51, at a hamburger stand in the Los Angeles suburb of Compton in January.

Knight has pleaded not guilty to the charges. His lawyer says it was an accident, claiming Knight was ambushed and trying to escape an attack when he hit the men.

Mr Carter died of his injuries, while Mr Sloan survived.

Alongside the footage, an hour-long interview with Mr Sloan was included in the evidence reviewed by the judge.

The nine-minute video, captured by a surveillance camera, shows Knight's truck pulling up to the driveway of the burger stand and Mr Sloan approaching the driver's window.

A struggle follows in which Mr Sloan has admitted to repeatedly punching Knight in the face in response to insults.

The truck is then seen backing up, throwing Mr Sloan to the ground and driving over his legs. The truck then runs over Mr Carter.

Knight's lawyer Matt Fletcher claims the footage shows an associate of Mr Sloan taking a gun from him after he is run over.

The footage is likely to be used by both sides during the trial.

During the evidence hearing, Mr Sloan said he was reluctant to testify against Knight, telling the judge he did not want to be a "snitch".

If found guilty, Knight would face a mandatory sentence of 25 years to life in prison under California's three-strikes rule.

He already has prior felony convictions for armed robbery and assault with a gun.
