DC-loving gamers had their appetites whetted earlier this month when Rocksteady, the company behind the hugely popular Batman: Arkham series, announced it was planning to release another comic book-related outing soon.
Now, thanks to DC FanDome, we know exactly what it'll entail AND when it'll come out (2022), too.
During the virtual convention, the first trailer for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, an all-new shooter game that sees baddies Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang and King Shark band together and follow Amanda Waller's order to eliminate Superman.
The reason? Well, judging by the menacing red laser eyes, which lifts visuals right out of the source material's page, this game's version of the Man of Steel isn't quite looking out for Metropolis as he is looking to destroy it.
"Oh, look, it's Superman... The mighty Superman has just rescued that pilot," King Shark exclaims after he and the rest of Task Force X have caused a whole bunch of chaos all over the city.
"What a show off," Harley jokes. "Beat it, spandex! We're on a top secret assassination mission here!"
Acting as a stark reminder as to who the "alpha target" the mischief makers have been instructed to off is, Superman then torches the man he's holding mid-air as an oblivious Boomerang mutters: "So, figured out who we're supposed to be killing yet?"
The team point towards the corrupt Kryptonian, prompting the Aussie to exclaim: "Oh, fuck!"
Finally, the title card reveals that the game will be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and XBox Series X, sometime in 2022.
