The Duchess of Sussex may have swapped the Hollywood hills for Kensington Palace but her former Suits character, Rachel Zane, just earned a special mention in the final season.

In a clip which has humoured royal fans, the series pokes fun at Meghan Markle's new role in The Firm as her onscreen husband, Mike Ross (played by Patrick J. Adams), is asked how she's doing.

"If I told you how good, you probably wouldn't believe me," he quips.

Playing on the joke, the official Suits Twitter account shared the scene alongside the caption: "Turns out Rachel is doing REALLY well."

The Duchess of Sussex left the series at the end of the seventh season, ahead of her marriage to Prince Harry, alongside co-star Patrick J. Adams. In her final episode, which aired last year, the couple tied the knot and moved to Seattle.

The legal series ran for a further two seasons before it was eventually axed with speculation rife that Suits struggled following the departure of its two lead characters.

A newly-engaged Duchess of Sussex spoke candidly about leaving the show after seven years during her first joint interview with Prince Harry back in November 2017.

"I see it as new change, a new chapter. I've been working on my show [for] seven years, we were so fortunate to have that longevity, and I feel like I checked that box and am very proud of the work I've done there," the 37-year-old said at the time.
