After just one season, Suits spin-off Pearson has been axed by USA Network.

Following the (literal) trials and tribulations of Gina Torres' lawyer Jessica Pearson in the shady political world of Chicago, the ambitious series struggled to find an audience during its run – eventually claiming the title of "lowest-rated original scripted series" on the network.

Pearson executive producer Aaron Korsh previously shared his enthusiasm for the show, telling Deadline: "I am tremendously proud of the first season of Pearson. I think [EPs] Dan Arkin, Kevin Bray, Gina Torres, Gene Klein and Dave Bartis did an amazing job – the writers, the cast, everybody. It's an amazing show."

Although its cancellation will no doubt be a bitter pill to swallow, the team can be proud of the creation of their unique character, who managed to seamlessly drift across two separate shows.

Meanwhile, Suits creator Korsh has also weighed in on that legal drama's surprising series finale, which featured not one, but two weddings.

"To my mind, once they [Harvey and Donna] slept together, it was inevitable that they were going to get married, or at least they were going to be together forever. Because of that, then it felt right to get to see them married."

Suits aired on USA in the US and on Netflix in the UK.
