Be careful enjoying the sun this weekend.

Sunbathers have an increased chance of catching herpes according to a new study done by online pharmacy Chemist Click.

Sunlight is a common trigger in stimulating oral herpes due to the presence of UV rays.

Abbas Kanani, head pharmacist at UK online pharmacy Chemist Click explains “The immune system is weakened by the ultraviolet radiation which takes the virus out of dormancy and activates viral activity”.

The news comes as the area is bracing itself for another heatwave with temperatures expected to reach almost 30 degrees by the weekend.

However, the study says we can all keep ourselves safe by applying suncream and avoiding excessive exposure to the sun.
