Sunday Brunch viewers are not happy with the show's format changes amid the coronavirus pandemic, saying they are "confusing".

The Channel 4 cookery series was pulled from air last week, following the spread of coronavirus across the UK and an increase in social distancing measures.

This Sunday (March 29), however, it returned with a new format in place.

The episode saw regular Sunday Brunch presenters Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer host the show from their respective homes via video link.

In-between hosting the show from home, highlights from across the series were played, much to the confusion of viewers just tuning in.

As the highlights shown were filmed earlier in the year (or even earlier), social distancing measures were not in place and the guests were sitting pretty closely, while the presenters appeared to be in two places at once.

"Have you heard about social distancing?" asked one viewer.

"Feel like I'm in The Twilight Zone," said another.

"Has Simon Rimmer invented teleportation?" added a bewildered viewer. "One minute he was at home now he's in the studio! #confusingtimes."

Countless others were also a little confused by what was going on:

The Sunday Brunch format changes follow similar measures undertaken by Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway.

Both shows are among other TV series that have managed stay on air amid the outbreak.

Sunday Brunch returns next Sunday (April 5) on Channel 4.
