Sunday Brunch host Tim Lovejoy admits he wanted to 'get rid' of co-star

Sunday Brunch host Tim Lovejoy has admitted that he wanted to 'get rid' of co-star Helen Chamberlain when he joined Soccer AM.

The iconic duo previously worked together on Soccer AM for more than a decade. Now, after a break from our TV screens, the iconic duo have reunited for a brand new podcast, Soccer A-Z.

Revealing more on their new project together, Tim and Helen appeared on ITV hit daytime show This Morning alongside Ben Shepherd and Cat Deeley.

Reflecting on the first time they worked together, Tim, 56, admitted that he judged Helen but his opinion quickly changed after she proved him wrong.

Ben went on to say: "Tim I didn't realise this but when you first joined Soccer AM, Helen already did one season and then they brought you in and you were thinking right 'I'm not sure about this Helen'."

Tim admitted: "Yeah I did. I was working with a guy called Andy and we came in to produce the show and the first thing I thought was 'we'll get rid of Helen because all she is doing is reading out the traffic and weather reports'."

Helen jumped in and joked: "There are cones on the M8." Everyone burst out laughing as Tom continued: "Then I met her and I was like 'aw she knows more football than me' not only that but she is a really good presenter."

Helen then said: "Tim came in from behind the scene of the big breakfast so he's come in and is like 'who is this, she just goes to commercial breaks and talks about cones'."

She continued: "But then he realised after a couple of weeks when I was hitting the countdown in my ear on the zero. All of the little scuffs and hiccups that you always make when you're first on TV."

Before she could finish her sentence, Tim started laughing and added: "Well I'm still making them." Elsewhere in the show, Cat asked the pair what it was like to be working together again. Tim admitted: "It has been really good."

Helen revealed: "We have kept in touch over the 28 years but mainly over Whatsapp and texts." Rounding off the interview she joked: "But I forgot how mean he is to me instantly."
