Tim Lovejoy has said he wanted rid of a co-star after first meeting her. The Channel 4 Sunday Brunch star now hosts the show each and every weekend with chef Simon Rimmer, but he previously made a name for himself while presenting Soccer AM.

Discussing his time on the Sky Sports and Sky One favourite, Tim - who hosted with Helen Chamberlain - admitted he and the Torquay United FC fan didn't always see eye-to-eye and get on. Chelsea fan Tim and Helen previously worked together on Soccer AM for more than a decade now they have reunited to host a new show together in the form of a podcast.

Tim and Helen appeared on ITV hit daytime show This Morning alongside Ben Shepherd and Cat Deeley this week. Tim, 56, admitted that he judged Helen but his opinion quickly changed after she proved him wrong.

Ben went on to say: “Tim I didn’t realise this but when you first joined Soccer AM, Helen already did one season and then they brought you in and you were thinking right ‘I’m not sure about this Helen’" Tim admitted: “Yeah I did. I was working with a guy called Andy and we came in to produce the show and the first thing I thought was ‘we’ll get rid of Helen because all she is doing is reading out the traffic and weather reports’.”

Helen joked: “There are cones on the M8.” Tim continued: “Then I met her and I was like ‘aw she knows more football than me’ not only that but she is a really good presenter.” Helen then said: “Tim came in from behind the scene of the big breakfast so he’s come in and is like ‘who is this, she just goes to commercial breaks and talks about cones’.”

She continued: “But then he realised after a couple of weeks when I was hitting the countdown in my ear on the zero. All of the little scuffs and hiccups that you always make when you’re first on TV..” Tim added: “Well I’m still making them.”

Tim admitted: “It has been really good.” Helen revealed: “We have kept in touch over the 28 years but mainly over Whatsapp and texts.” Rounding off the interview she joked: “But I forgot how mean he is to me instantly.”
