Sunderland Win 3-1 At 10-Man Fulham

Sunderland earned their first away win of the season by beating 10-man Fulham 3-1.

Sunderland capitalised on Brede Hangeland's early sending-off with second half goals from Setven Fletcher, Carlos Cuellar and Stephane Sessegnon at Craven Cottage.

Fulham substitue Mladen Petric had cancelled out Fletcher's first goal since September, but Cuellar's header and Sessegnon's superb curling shot from 25 yards settled the match.

A red card for Fulham captain Hangeland for a rash challenge on Lee Cattermole after half-an-hour was the only action of a nervy yet well-contested first half.

Despite being a man down, the home side still attacked with energy and invention, but Sunderland found spaces in the Fulham defence on the counter-attack to secure a first win in seven league games.

The visitors climb out of the bottom three into 15th place, Fulham remain in ninth.
