Sunderland head coach Régis Le Bris and club captain Luke O’Nien have been nominated for the first set of Sky Bet Championship awards of the 2024/25 season.

Le Bris has been shortlisted for August’s Manager of the Month accolade while O’Nien has received a nomination for the league’s Player of the Month. Last month saw Le Bris and his side produce a blistering start to the new season with a 100 per cent record from four games after beating Cardiff City, Sheffield Wednesday, Burnley and Portsmouth.

During that winning run, the Black Cats scored 10 goals while conceding just once – ironically, an O’Nien own goal. Le Bris has been nominated for the award alongside Watford’s Tom Cleverley, West Brom’s Carlos Corberan and John Eustace of Blackburn Rovers.

Elsewhere, O’Nien’s performances in August caught the eye after he managed to score twice and contribute to three clean sheets in four league games.

The 29-year-old has been nominated for the award alongside Oxford United striker Mark Harris, West Brom frontman Josh Maja and Millwall forward Duncan Watmore. The winner of the awards will be announced on Friday.
