'Super Sisi' saves Egypt -- on Android devices

Super Sisi

Fans of Egypt’s former military chief – and possible future president – Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi now have a new way to engage with their hero.

Super Sisi, a new game application for Android systems, allows users to play the role of presidential candidate El-Sisi. Dressed in military uniform, El-Sisi flies a plane past Egyptian landmarks, avoiding bombs and other obstacles.

"Help Super Sisi reach the farthest distance possible and achieve the highest score," reads the description of the game on the Google Play website, where applications for Android phones and smart devices are sold.

The application, developed by Gamesawy, seems to have elicited strong responses from users. Out of 104 user reviews on the Google Play site, 69 give the app a full five stars, while 26 users awarded just one star.

El-Sisi gained massive popularity last summer when he led the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi after mass protests against him. Last month he resigned from his role as military chief in order to run in this spring’s presidential election.
