The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) released satellite imagery on Friday, September 10, showing the formation of Super Typhoon Chanthu over the Philippine Sea.
Chanthu is expected to impact Taiwan on Saturday and Sunday after lashing the Philippines.
NOAA said this video shows the weather system at around 10 am local time, posting that the 165 mph winds were the equivalent of a Category 5 Atlantic hurricane.
