Just months after fans thought he might be gone for good, Jeremy Jordan has confirmed he'll be returning to National City for Supergirl's fifth season. It's a Winn-Winn!

(Sorry.)

After skipping season four much to fans' disappointment, Jeremy announced Winn Schott's return on Instagram. Just in time for the Arrowverse's 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' crossover, too.

Alongside a shot of best friends Winn and Kara Danvers, the actor wrote: "Turns out Winn didn't go 1000 years into the future, just to season 5! So happy to come back and play with my friendsssssss!!"

Following confirmation that Winn would no longer be a DEO regular in season four, Supergirl's writers revealed how the DC Comics series will explain the fan-favourite's absence – by sending him on a time-travelling mission to preserve the future.

Of course, Supergirl bosses had already hinted at Winn's season five return when explaining the reason for his absence.

"We love Jeremy Jordan, we love Winn," c0-showrunner Robert Rovner said earlier this year. "It looks like, in terms of our storytelling, something we'd like to do at the beginning of next season as opposed to this season.

"We have a lot of stories that coincided with [Jeremy's] availability at the end of the play. We don't want to short shrift Jeremy or the character. So, we think it's something that’s better served in season 5."

The return of Winn is not the only exciting change ahead for Supergirl, as a recent sneak-peek at season five revealed a re-vamped costume for the superhero.

About time, too.

Supergirl airs on The CW in the US. Sky One and NOW TV air the show in the UK.
