It's been a bit too long since we had some singing superheroes on our screens, so it's lucky for us that the CW's DC contingent is here to address that particular oversight over a two-hour musical crossover extravaganza - and now we finally know when it's going to air.

Yes, dust off your vocal chords everyone and start humming those warm-ups, because Supergirl is kicking off the musical action on Monday, March 20 while The Flash takes over for Act 2 on Tuesday, March 21 as the Music Meister wreaks his villainous singing mischief over the two episodes.

But before you go expecting to see Melissa Benoist belting out songs from the very start, you should know now that much of the song and dance fun won't kick off until Supergirl's closing minutes - much like the beginning of last year's epic four-show crossover week.

When announcing the musical crossover last year, Greg Berlanti said "we have a number of people who can sing across all the shows who will be making appearances", and he was definitely not wrong on that front with Glee alumni and the series' two stars Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist topping the bill.

Everyone knows Melissa was 'the new Rachel Berry' when she joined the show in its fourth season, but here's Grant taking on a bit of Michael Jackson's 'Smooth Criminal' in season three of the hit Fox show if you need a reminder:

Jesse L Martin, Jeremy Jordan, Victor Garber, Carlos Valdes and John Barrowman will all also get a chance to perform during the crossover, while Supergirl's David Harewood and Chris Wood will both also appear in the episodes, but they won't be breaking out into song.

No casting has been announced for the Music Meister himself as of yet, but the last time he was brought to life was by Neil Patrick Harris in the animated series Batman: The Brave and the Bold and, to be completely honest, we'd be happy enough if he decided to reprise that particular role.

Both Supergirl and The Flash return from their midseason breaks on The CW next week.
