Supergirl season 2 finale sees one major character exit
Warning: This article contains spoilers for Supergirl's season 2 finale which aired in the US last night (May 22).
Supergirl wasted no time in solving who would win in a fight between Supergirl and Superman.
Season 2 finale 'Nevertheless, She Persisted' aired in the US last night (May 22) and kicked off with last week's cliffhanger, as Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) faced off with her cousin Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) who had been brainwashed by Rhea (Teri Hatcher).
But the finale also saw the departure of a major character, so be warned, spoilers follow after the photo.
First though, the super battle that delivered one of the stand-out fights of Supergirl's entire run to date. With neither of them holding back any punches, it was a brutal affair that was eventually won by… Supergirl.
Needless to say, Supergirl's winning uppercut got everyone very excited.

And so onto the episode's other battle between Supergirl and Rhea, with Kara forced to sacrifice her future with Rhea's son Mon-El (Chris Wood).
By making the environment uninhabitable for Daxamites, Supergirl defeated Rhea but it also meant that it was too toxic for Mon-El to stay on the planet, leading to a heartbreaking farewell between the two.
"Wherever I go, I'm going to be better because of you. You'll be in my heart," he explained, before she replied: "You've made me so happy."
But if that wasn't devastating enough, Mon-El's pod was knocked off course into a portal to another dimension in the episode's climax, making it unlikely that he could ever return to Earth.
Kara parted with her most prized possession, the necklace her mom gave her. And she gave it to Mon-El to keep him safe. #Supergirl pic.twitter.com/YHj8Aqe2QM
