Supermarket Sweep was back tonight (September 11) with host Rylan Clark-Neal helping the newest crop of shoppers go wild in the aisles.

But as much as viewers are enjoying the new series, it hasn't gone unnoticed that there is a very specific age demographic of the contestants, and it hasn't gone down very well.

One person tweeted: "What's with all these young people on #SupermarketSweep? When are we gonna see middle age people or OAPs on the show?"

Another wrote: "I haven't watched much of this new #SupermarketSweep but one thing I've noticed is that every contestant is the same kind of person in their 20s. I get that it's ITV2 and that's kind of their demographic but is there any need to full on exclude anyone nearing the age of 40??"

Digital Spy has reached out to the ITV2 show for comment.

ITV2's revamp of the classic '90s gameshow premiered on Monday (September 9), with all the classic features including Mini Sweep, Super Sweep, pick 'n' mix and inflatable collecting.

But viewers are also loving the new elements that have been introduced in the reboot.

Tonight's show was a twins special, featuring three sets of identical twins, including sisters who were once backing dancers on The X Factor for Rylan. Naturally, there was a mini performance.

A Love Island special episode is also happening in the coming weeks, with Anton and Belle, Chris and Harley and Ovie and India battling it out for charity.

Supermarket Sweep continues on Thursday, September 12 on ITV2 at 8pm.
