When are supermarkets open over the Easter weekend?
Easter weekend is just around the corner. While it may not feel like a normal bank holiday weekend as we follow government guidelines to stay home, if you do need to go to the shops for essential items, we have a full guide to when supermarkets are open over Easter.
This year, Good Friday falls on 10 April, Easter Sunday on 12 April and Easter Monday 13 April. While most stores operate normal hours on Easter Saturday, they often operate reduced hours on bank holidays and Easter Sunday.
That's why we've compiled this handy Easter opening hours guide for the major supermarkets, including Tesco, Sainsbury's, Aldi, Morrisons, Waitrose, Asda, Lidl and M&S.
It's important to note that the majority of supermarkets will be closed on Easter Sunday, but check their websites for your local store. If your nearest supermarket is a smaller, convenience store, chances are it will be open, albeit operating reduced hours.

Aldi
For the majority of stores in England and Wales, these are the opening hours for Easter weekend:
Good Friday (10 April): 8am – 8pm
Saturday (11 April): 8am – 8pm
Easter Sunday (12 April): Stores closed
Easter Monday (13 April): 8am – 8pm
For the majority of stores in Scotland, these are the Easter weekend opening hours:
Good Friday (10 April): 8am – 8pm
Saturday (11 April): 8am – 8pm
Easter Sunday (12 April): 9am - 6pm
Easter Monday 13 April): 8am – 8pm
As some store have their own opening times, Aldi suggests checking your local store’s opening times here.
Aldi will also be open from 07:30 - 08:00 for vulnerable and elderly customers Monday - Saturday. In Scotland, stores will also be open from 08:30-09:00 on Sunday for emergency workers.
Asda
Asda say customers should use their store locator to check local Easter opening hours, as they vary from branch to branch.
However, these are the opening hours you can generally expect over Easter weekend
Good Friday (10 April): 8am to 8pm
Saturday (11 April): 8am to 8pm
Easter Sunday (12 April): Stores closed
Easter Monday (13 April): 8am to 8pm
Co-op
The Co-op recommends shoppers check their local store’s opening time online. All larger Co-op stores will be closed on Easter Sunday but Co-op convenience stores will be open every day through Easter from 7am to 8pm.
Morrisons
Morrisons advise customers to check your local store’s opening times here as Easter weekend opening hours vary at different branches.
However, given the current circumstances, their core operating hours are currently 8am to 8pm, Monday to Saturday.
Sainsbury's
Sainsbury’s says that only some stores will be open on Easter Sunday. Keep in mind that Sainsbury’s is currently operating from 8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday at the moment.

The opening times of your local Tesco depend on whether it’s a Superstore, Metro or Express store. Tesco suggests you should check the opening times for your local store here, but you can see general hours for Easter weekend below:
Good Friday (10 April):
All Extras Superstores and Metro stores open 8am – 8pm.
Express stores open usual hours.
Easter Saturday (11 April):
All Extras Superstores and Metro stores open 6am – 10pm.
Express stores open usual hours.
Easter Sunday (12 April):
England, Wales and Northern Ireland Extras, Superstores and Metro stores closed.
Scotland stores open 8am – 8pm
All Express stores open usual hours
Easter Monday (13 April):
England & Wales Extras, Superstores and Metro stores open 8am - 6pm
Northern Ireland Extras & Superstores open 10am - 7pm
Scotland Extras and Superstores open 8am – 8pm

Tuesday 14 April:
England, Scotland and Wales Extras, Superstores and Metro stores open 6am – 10pm.

Waitrose
Waitrose advises shoppers to check their store locator for local opening times. Most larger Waitrose stores will be open 8am-7pm on Easter Monday, with local stores operating slightly longer hours.
