Supernatural is coming up to its milestone 300th episode and fans are in for a massive treat with a very long-awaited return.

The long-running series has confirmed that Walking Dead star Jeffery Dean Morgan will appear in the episode as John Winchester, Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam's (Jared Padalecki) father.

The episode is titled 'Lebanon' and will air on Thursday, February 7 on The CW.

Jeffery first appeared on the show in its 2005 pilot episode, but he's not been since 2008, when he helped his sons defeat the Yellow-Eyed demon after they saved his life.

The actor, of course, went on to land a role on The Walking Dead, where he's played baddie Negan since 2016.

“We’re incredibly excited to have Jeffrey back for this milestone episode, and think fans will love what we have planned for his character… and a few other surprise guest stars,” executive producer Andrew Dabb said in a statement.

Interestingly, just over two weeks ago, Jeffery was asked by a fan on Twitter if he'd like to return to the show. "Sure. If story was right," he told his followers (perhaps he knew something we all didn't).

Unsurprisingly, fans were overjoyed at the news of Morgan's return and took to Twitter to show their excitement.

Supernatural season 14 continues Thursdays on The CW. The series airs on E4 in the UK.
