Supernatural had a seriously amazing Walking Dead cameo

Jeffrey Dean Morgan may no longer be on the show anymore, but Supernatural couldn't resist a pretty awesome reference to his baddie character Negan on The Walking Dead.

The actor played John Winchester, the father of brothers Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) in the first two seasons of the long-running fantasy horror drama on The CW.

And the latest Supernatural episode, which aired in the US on Thursday (March 9), couldn't resist a little nod to who Daddy Winchester has become – with Dean actually holding Lucille (Negan's weapon of choice on The Walking Dead) at the start of the episode.

Even better was this line Dean said to Sam: "Man, Dad loved this thing."

It looks like Dean has been giving Lucille a workout, too. Dean and Sam had come back from a monster hunt, with Dean having blood all over his clothes.

"Dean, you're covered in ghoul and wraith... you have a piece of siren in your hair," Sam says.

Like father, like son.

If Walking Dead fans missed that Negan reference while watching the episode, the camera helpfully zooms in on the barbed wire-covered baseball bat as Dean and Sam leave the room.

Oh yeah, and fans went wild. In fact, everyone's caps lock button appeared to break at the same time:

It's not the first time both the Supernatural and Walking Dead universes have crossed over, either.

Jensen Ackles and Jeffrey Dean Morgan engaged in a fun bit of chat on Twitter last year over the ownership of Lucille.
