Johannesburg - Free-to-air commercial TV channel e.tv pulled out all the stops to celebrate Women’s Month in style at an event at Mowana Spa in Fourways, Johannesburg, this week.

The guests were first given spa treatments, then a light lunch and soft drinks.

After lunch, the women participated in informal round-table discussions on a variety of social ills facing the country, including the prevalence of incidents of violence against women at the hands of men.

After the discussions, the guests were treated to a round of manicures, pedicures, and neck and shoulder massages to help them unwind.

The hashtag #supremewomen trended on social media, with the robe-clad women showing off the five-star treatments.

Lynn Adams of e.tv’s marketing and communications department said the #supremewomen campaign conveyed a strong message and that the idea behind the effort was to inspire women to get to a place where they could say:

“In my world, I reign supreme. I lead my own destiny, I am powerful beyond measure. I don’t need approval, nor do I seek validation ... I am a woman.”

Fast forward to dessert – double-baked chocolate soufflé with chocolate and orange sauce – yum!

City Press had a moment to chat to Scandal leading lady Kgomotso Christopher, who shared what it meant to her to be part of the celebration.

“It is such an honour to celebrate this day with women in the industry and with other women from across the country,” she said, adding that it was important for South African women to look after one another.
