The surprising way The Ivy revealed its opening date for its newest Kent restaurant
An opening date has at last been revealed for a new swanky restaurant in the heart of Kent’s only city. The Ivy Brasserie is set to open in Canterbury at the end of October, having been announced with a unique celebration in the city centre.
This week's announcement saw a parade led by town crier Jane Smith weave its way through the middle of Canterbury, complete with a brass band, to share the news of the opening on Tuesday, October 29. This marks The Ivy collection’s 41st restaurant, with another branch already operating in Tunbridge Wells.
Replacing the former Burton and Dorothy Perkins on the corner of Rose Lane and The Parade, The Ivy Canterbury Brasserie will cater for 180 covers, and feature a ‘stylish’ bar, outdoor terrace and a private dining room. Renowned for its stylish interiors and luxury meals, the franchise restaurants are an offshoot of the famous celebrity haunt in London's West End.

Bosses promise a menu of ‘expertly crafted dishes’ at the Canterbury branch, made using local and seasonal ingredients. Also on offer will be locally sourced beverages such as English Sparkling Wine, cider and Pleasant Land spirits from Kent.
General Manager Diogo Bolan, who has previously worked with The Ivy Wimbledon, said: “We are thrilled to bring the iconic Ivy experience to Canterbury. The city is known for its rich heritage and vibrant community and is the perfect setting for our next chapter.
“Our team is dedicated to delivering exceptional service and creating unforgettable dining moments, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone from 29th October.” Reservations for The Ivy Canterbury Brasserie are now open, booking details for which can be found here. The restaurant is also on the hunt for staff ahead of the opening, further details of which can be provided by contacting recruitment@theivy-collection.com
