Surrey entrepreneur named MP HERoes award winner for her support of businesses and families

A Surrey mum has been congratulated after winning a prestigious award for her work supporting businesses over almost 20 years. Devenia Besant was nominated by Epsom and Ewell’s MP, Helen Maguire for the MP HERoes Awards.

Devenia is the face of the popular Epsom and Ewell Families page, connecting businesses, services and events to those living in the north east of Surrey. As well as shining a spotlight on the very best of Epsom and Ewell, Devenia is involved with many charitable initiatives.

Epsom and Ewell Families offers a support network with advertising, marketing services and business guidance. Devenia is a trustee for the Epsom & Ewell Foodbank.

Helen Maguire praised Devenia, saying: "Devenia is a shining example of determination, innovation, and community spirit. Her passion for supporting local businesses extends far beyond her professional work.

"Clients often praise her hands-on approach and personal investment in their business. As a local woman entrepreneur, Dee leads a successful business and is also active in empowering others, making her a real MP HERo for Epsom and Ewell. She truly embodies the ethos of this initiative.”

To support charities, Devenia uses the Epsom and Ewell Families platform to promote causes and support those in need. Recently, a host of posters appeared across Epsom, in support of a little boy in need of urgent cancer care.

On Wednesday, November 20, Devenia attended Westminster and was issued her award by The Earl of Erroll and The Rt Hon Caroline Nokes MP. Devenia said: “I am thrilled and honoured to receive the first MP HERoes Award for Epsom and Ewell. It is incredibly humbling to be recognised by our community and our local MP.

"I’ve always believed in the power of supporting local businesses, and this reaffirms that we are making a difference. I am excited to meet other inspiring women from across the country at Westminster and look forward to what comes next—new business ventures, fresh challenges, and more opportunities to connect and collaborate with other entrepreneurs.”

MP HERoes is an initiative by Savvitas and Natwest that encourages, celebrates and supports female enterprise in the UK. It highlighting female entrepreneurship across all sectors and industries, it also links each MP with a successful female business owners in their constituency.
