Susanna Reid comforts sobbing John Worboys victim in emotional scenes from new documentary

Susanna Reid can be seen comforting one of John Worboys’ victims in a preview clip of her documentary on the serial rapist.

In scenes to be aired in Thursday’s programme, the woman tearfully tells Reid about the guilt she feels because the police didn’t take her testimony against Worboys seriously.

“I just want to put it right. Not because I did anything wrong. But for my own sanity I need to put it right,” she says.

A concerned looking Reid tells her: “But John Worboys assaulted all these women, it is not your fault.”

The victim then responds: “ I know but I just feel that I need to make some good out of all this cause maybe I could have done more. I don’t know.

“I just need to do something. I won’t let him do this again to anyone else.”

In the documentary Reid meets several of Worboys’ victims as she explores the ‘Taxi Cab Rapist’s’ crimes.

Worboys was convicted in 2009 for sexually assaulting 12 women but the police believe he could have attacked as many as 100 victims.

The offender would pick women up in his taxi before telling them he had won the lottery and inviting them to share a glass of champagne, which was spiked with drugs by him.

A parole board has recently ruled that Worboys should be released after less than 10 years in prison sparking a backlash which has seen the issue raised in parliament.

John Worboys: Taxi Cab Rapist airs Thursday, February 22 at 9pm on ITV.
