Susanna Reid has told the terrifying story of being mugged by a man with a knife during a night out 25 years ago.
The 50-year-old Good Morning Britain presenter said she was "lucky" not to be hurt in the attack, which left "a knife slash across my body, through my clothes and through my bag" but fortunately did not break the skin.
Reid revealed her horror at the incident while addressing a charity event at Crystal Palace's Selhurst Park ground, connected to the Palace For Life Foundation's new Divert scheme.
Divert aims to deploy one-to-one monitoring in order to prise 300 young people away from crime and anti-social behaviour over the next three years.

Reid said she feels "particularly affected and touched and moved" by the work of the campaign due to her own experiences, as well as the fact she has three teenage children.
She then reflected on her own attack, which happened in South London 25 years ago just after she used a cash machine.
"A young lad came up to me and got my bag off me. And as he ran away, I ran after him. And in fact, he dropped my bag, he took the money," Reid said.
"But I looked down at the bag, and at my coat. And there was a knife slash across my body, through my clothes and through my bag. But it had not touched my skin. I was lucky.
"I wish that 25 years ago somebody had intervened with that young lad .And so I support everything you're doing in order to help those kids before they think that that's okay."
Reid said earlier this year that her job on Good Morning Britain puts her right in the firing line and in the crosshairs of "toxic and horrible" online abuse.
She added: "Obviously there are moments when I’m upset or I beat myself up about getting something wrong – and there are things that frighten me – but we do a good job and we enjoy what we do.
"I have moments of self-doubt, but I’ve been doing this a long time now."
Reid is currently one of the main anchors on Good Morning Britain alongside Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway.
