Susanna Reid walks off GMB set to comfort mother of missing rugby player Levi Davis

Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid walked off the show to console the mother of missing rugby star Levi Davis.

Julie Davis appeared on the ITV show this morning to discuss the ongoing search for her son who was last seen in Barcelona on October 29.

Mrs Davis was in tears as she spoke about CCTV that showed the athlete leaving a pub in the Spanish city just hours after he arrived there from Ibiza.

Since then, there have been some unconfirmed sightings of the 24-year-old, with his passport discovered near the city’s port.

“It’s been very very difficult, I’ve been trying to take one day at a time," Mrs Davis told Reid and her co-host Ed Balls about her son’s disappearance.

“Recently I started back work, just to have some kind of normality because I think sitting at home, looking at the four walls is doing my head in.

“Also on that night, he made a phone call to me to say he was thinking of staying at a hostel...

“I said, ‘Oh Levi, how many more times do you wanna take money off me? You’re going to have to sort yourself out this time.’

“He said he had some friends he could get in touch with and that’s the last phone call we had."

She then broke down on set as she admitted to having a feeling that something was wrong.

Mrs Davis went on to explain: “Just before he left, there was a message that, maybe the powers up above, that just said to me, just give him a hug as you don’t know if it’ll be your last."

An emotional Reid then reached out to hold her hand and offer words of comfort as she cried.

Mrs Davis explained that she wished she had more information about the search, as she has been having to go through the British consulate because of the language barrier between her and the Spanish police.

She added: “The Spanish police had to go to court to get papers signed so they could access the CCTV coverage. By the time they got it, it was too late."

“Julie, we’re all with you, we’ll keep on it. Our hearts are with you. Lots of love okay," Reid said.

The show then cut to an ad break and, upon return, Balls, who was presenting the show on his own, confirmed Reid had left the studio to console Mrs Davis.

The presenter returned after 15 minutes apologising for her absence before praising Mrs Davis for being a “tower of strength".

It’s been reported that the former Bath rugby player said he was fleeing criminals and may have drowned at a Barcelona port.

An unnamed member of a team of private detectives searching for Davis told La Vanguardia newspaper: “Davis came to Barcelona fleeing from these criminals."

His family has also hired a private investigator and offered a £10,000 reward to anyone with information leading to him being found.
