Suspect accused of kidnapping woman to be his girlfriend, holding her in vehicle

A man is accused of kidnapping a woman by dragging her into his vehicle and kissing her before letting her go.

Prosecutors told Dubai Court of First Instance the 27-year-old Pakistani defendant chased the Filipina in the Refaa area of Dubai then kidnapped her because he wanted her to be his girlfriend.

The court was told the 26-year-old Filipina cashier was walking back to her flat after midnight last July when a white car stopped in front of her. The defendant stepped out and dragged her to his car.

“He pulled me to the back seat. I was yelling for help when he started driving and calmed me down. He offered me a cup of water and claimed he did it because he liked me,” the woman said in official records.

She said she begged him to let her go. He kept driving for 40 minutes then stopped and released her. “He kissed me on my head then took me home,” she added. A 31-year-old Indian woman who was walking nearby saw what happened, took the car’s plate number and called police.

A patrol car located the suspect’s vehicle and arrested the defendant minutes after he dropped off the Filipina.

The defendant denied the charges and the trial was adjourned.
