Suspect Held Down Following Stabbing Incident in Central Sydney

A man was arrested in Sydney CBD on August 13, New South Wales Police said, following reports of a man armed with a knife “rampaging” through the streets.

The man was detained by members of the public before police arrived and arrested him.

Police and NSW Ambulance paramedics found a woman with a stab wound inside a hotel near King and Clarence Streets. She was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

A number of crime scenes were established and a number of road closures put in place that were expected to “have significant impact on traffic and public transport” for the afternoon, police said.
