Suspect named after bomb squad called to shopping centre
A man is due to appear in court in connection with a bomb hoax earlier this week. The bomb squad were called after a "suspicious package" was found at an address on Crown Gate, Runcorn, at around 2.30pm on Wednesday, November 20.
The explosive ordnance (EOD) attended the scene and it was later established the item was not suspicious. There was a large police presence near Runcorn Shopping City and a cordon was put in place after the incident.
Following police enquiries, Geoffrey Rush, 50, of Edinburgh Road, Widnes, was arrested in relation to the matter. He has since been charged with bomb hoax - communicating false information.
