A suspect has been named after a spate of burglaries and shop thefts in Liverpool. David McCouid, 40, of no fixed address, has also been charged with assaulting a police officer and breach of a criminal behaviour order (CBO).

He appeared in court on Saturday, November 16 and was remanded into custody. The offences are alleged to have taken place between July and November this year.

City centre local policing Inspector Jack Woodward said: “We continue to have a zero-tolerance approach to burglary in Merseyside. Stealing from businesses is not victimless. It impacts people’s livelihoods and their incomes. We will continue to work with our local businesses and communities to deter and prevent business burglaries and would welcome any information from the community about other burglaries or the sale of stolen goods.”
