Suspected human bones found in South East London

Suspected human remains have been found in southeast London and police have launched an investigation. A cordon has been set up while forensics try to find out more information about the ongoing incident.

Police were called to Sewell Road, in Thamesmead, at around 12.30pm yesterday (Wednesday, November 6) to reports of ‘suspected human remains/bones’ found in the area. Forensic officers are working to examine the item and determine its origins.

A cordon has been put in place in the area while police investigate the reports. Although they have not yet clarified whether or not human remains or bones have been found, they have confirmed that enquiries are ongoing.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Service said: “Police were called at 12:36hrs on Wednesday, 6 November to reports of suspected human remains/bones at Sewell Road, Thamesmead.

“A cordon has been put in place while forensic officers examine the item and establish its origins. Enquiries are ongoing.”
