Suspected World War Two bomb discovered in Cambridgeshire town with police cordon in place
A suspected World War Two bomb has been discovered in a Cambridgeshire town on Tuesday (August 27). A police cordon is in place in Wisbech while officers attend.
The cordon is in place at the Cromwell Road end of Weasenham Lane and extends 200m. Officers were called at 10.20am with reports that an unexploded WWII bomb was believed to have been discovered.
A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: "What is believed to be an unexploded World War Two bomb has been discovered in Weasenham Lane, Wisbech, close to Cromwell Road. Officers are at the scene and a 200m cordon has been set up as a precaution.
"The road has been closed and residents are advised to avoid the area. We are liaising with bomb disposal experts – the EOD."
