Sven, the documentary based on the life of the late Sven-Göran Eriksson, is available to watch on Prime Video.

The former footballer and manager, who was in charge of the England national team between 2001 and 2006, passed away on Monday (August 26) at the age of 76 following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Several players and pundits have paid tribute to the manager, who also had successful spells at Lazio and Benfica, following his passing, in the wake of his death, and now audiences have a chance to learn more about Eriksson in a feature-length documentary called Sven.

“Think you know everything there is to know about Sven-Goran Eriksson? Think again,” reads the logline. “This is the stranger-than-fiction story about England’s most unpredictable manager, following his rise and tabloid emblazoned fall, intertwined with the heart-breaking & moving reality of Sven’s terminal cancer diagnosis.”

The documentary, which was directed by Claudia Corbisiero, features interviews from several of Eriksson’s colleagues and former players, including David Beckham, Wayne Rooney, Roberto Mancini and Kasper Schmeichel, with his family also appearing in the film.

The closing scene features a touching message from Eriksson, as he shares (via AOL): “I had a good life. I think we are all scared of the day when we die, but life is about death as well. You have to learn to accept it for what it is. Hopefully at the end people will say, 'yeah, he was a good man,'

"But not everyone will say that. I hope you will remember me as a positive guy trying to do everything he could do. Don't be sorry, smile. Thank you for everything, coaches, players, the crowds, it's been fantastic. Take care of yourself and take care of your life. And live it. Bye."

Following its release on Friday (August 23), several reviews have come in, with City AM writing: "The unassuming gent from a small town in Sweden became inextricably linked to the culture of the 2000s, meaning even his sternest critics will feel some sadness at this graceful goodbye."

Sven is available to watch on Prime Video.
