The swanky Nottingham riverside flats with a pool that Sven-Goran Eriksson called home
The late Sven-Goran Eriksson, who died on at the age of 76, is fondly remembered across the world and he left his mark right here in Nottingham. The former England boss' arrival at Notts County was truly remarkable.
Back in 2009, his appointment as Director of Football at the Meadow Lane club brought worldwide media attention. The Swede, the first non-British figure to manage the men's England football team, had been attracted to the bold ambitions of the club's new owners, the ill-fated Middle Eastern consortium, Munto Finance, who planned to take the club to the Premier League in just a few years.
Sven's arrival is seen to have paved the way for big-name players Sol Campbell and the then-upcoming goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel to join the project and sign for the League Two club. Campbell, who'd rejected several Premier League offers, opted for the East Midlands - though his infamous stint lasted 26 days, with the defender walking out just a few days after his one and only league appearance.

Sven helped navigate choppy financial waters in the Meadow Lane hot seat, which followed the collapse of Munto Finance, and with the club on the brink he waived a hefty payoff to allow for the takeover under new owners. On the pitch, Notts went up as League Two champions at the end of the 2009-10 campaign.
During his time in Nottingham, Sven lived at the swanky River Crescent apartment block on the banks of the River Trent. River Crescent was built in 2008-09 and includes more than a hundred apartments. The flats are located east of Trent Lane, and to the west of Nottingham Racecourse, near Colwick.
An on-site “health club” includes a 60ft swimming pool, there’s a well-equipped gym with a personal training facility available, while you’ll also find some glitzy interior design schemes within some of the apartments.
Flats vary from one to three bedrooms and are spread across different levels within the complex. Residents benefit from access to private gardens, secure underground parking and designated cycle storage. Additionally there is a a concierge service and a business suite available for bookings.
Each flat boasts views across the water, with riverside walks and cycle paths nearby. Colwick Country Park is just a stone's throw away.
Danish forward Nicklas Bendtner also rented an apartment within the complex during his time at Nottingham Forest, having been signed under former Reds boss Philippe Montanier in September 2016.
The waterside area has been heavily developed in recent years. The vast £100m Trent Basin development is to the west of the site.
And with the Park Yacht site - previously home to the Park Yacht Inn pub which closed - the developments combined have transformed a once-industrial area into a residential waterside community.
