Switch Island closed after crash involving ambulance

Police closed a major junction after a crash involving an ambulance and white Audi.

At around 6.40pm today, Sunday June 9, an ambulance was involved in a crash with a white Audi on Switch Island. The accident appears to have caused the emergency vehicle to overturn.

In a statement, Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that emergency services are currently on Switch Island, M58 in Maghull following a road traffic collision involving a white Audi and an ambulance this evening.

"Two people inside the ambulance and the man inside the white Audi all suffered minor injuries and have been taken to hospital for medical assessment.

"Emergency services remain on Switch Island whilst the vehicles are removed from the area."
