Switzerland bus crash: One person dies and 44 injured after vehicle skids off snowy road and crashes into a wall

A bus has crashed in Switzerland killing one person and injuring 44 others.

The bus was travelling to Dusseldorf from Genoa in Italy when it crashed at 4.15am, south of Zurich.

According to Zurich state police, the bus went into a skid on the snowy road and crashed into a wall.

They said one woman, whose identity was not immediately released, was killed and three people, including the driver, have serious injuries.

The rest of those injured are said to have suffered minor to moderate injuries.

Switzerland's 20 Minuten news site quoted authorities saying the woman who died was 37-years-old and Italian.

The vehicle, run by a subsidiary of German-owned company Flixbus was fitted with winter tyres, according to the Local.
