Swollen River Floods Western Australia Desert Following Torrential Rains

Swollen rivers flooded in the arid Western Australia outback on January 10 after torrential rain reached the state’s vast interior.

This drone footage, filmed near Prenti Downs Station, shows the flooded landscape in the area. In a Facebook post, the station said there was “a serious amount of water moving across the country” after heavy downpours.

Bureau of Meteorology figures for nearby Carnegie show 270 mm of rain had been recorded on the Friday – around four times the region’s total rainfall for the entire of 2019. Credit: Jack Carmody via Storyful
