Sydney Sweeney Haunted by Mysterious Pregnancy in ‘Immaculate’ Trailer

Sydney Sweeney learns that not all convents are safe places for worship in the first trailer for the forthcoming horror film Immaculate.

Neon debuted the promo Thursday for Michael Mohan’s feature, which is set to hit theaters March 22. Immaculate stars Sweeney as Cecilia, a deeply religious woman who moves into a convent in the Italian countryside but soon learns that her new home holds terrifying secrets. The footage shows Sweeney’s character finding out about her miraculous pregnancy before her path takes a terrible turn.

“God saved me for a reason, but I’m still searching for what that reason is,” Sweeney says in the trailer.

Álvaro Morte, Benedetta Porcaroli, Dora Romano, Giorgio Colangeli and Simona Tabasco round out the cast. Sweeney, Jonathan Davino, Teddy Schwarzman and Michael Heimler are producers, while Christopher Casanova, John Friedberg and Will Greenfield serve as executive producers.

Mohan previously directed Sweeney and Justice Smith in the Amazon Studios thriller The Voyeurs, which debuted on Prime Video in September 2021.

Sweeney stars opposite Glen Powell in Sony’s romantic comedy Anyone But You, which hit theaters last month. She also appears alongside Dakota Johnson in Madame Web, with the feature from Sony’s Spider-Man universe of superhero films launching Feb. 14.

Her other prominent credits include the fact-based Max streaming feature Reality, which debuted in May, along with HBO series Euphoria and The White Lotus.

During an interview with Vogue that published last year, Sweeney explained that she tries to stay grounded amid all of her recent success.

“I think I’m still wrapping my head around everything that’s been going on,” she said at the time. “I’ve been working towards this dream since I was 11, and it’s been a really long and hard journey. I’m really grateful that I’m able to be in this position, finally.”
