Sydney Sweeney Wears Angelina Jolie’s 2004 Oscar Dress to 2024 Vanity Fair Oscars Party
The actress also debuted a new short 'do as she stepped out on one of Hollywood's biggest red carpets on Sunday
Sydney Sweeney channeled timeless Hollywood glamor at the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscars Party — and paid homage to a legendary actress while she did it.
Sweeney, 26, wore an archival cream-colored Marc Bouwer gown as she posed on the red carpet after Sunday night’s Academy Awards. The dress was originally worn at the 2004 Oscars by Angelina Jolie, as noted by the actress’ stylist, Molly Dickson, on Instagram.
The Euphoria star was allowed into the archives of the New York City designer and her stylist thanked Marc Bouwer president Paul Margolin for helping create the “special moment.”
Sweeney paired the satin gown — which featured a plunging neckline and a low back, along with a lengthy train and a matching shawl — with jewelry from Messika, including a statement layered pendant necklace and a more laid-back pair of stud earrings.
On top of an already timeless look, Sweeney completed her Vanity Fair afterparty look with the debut of a new ‘do – a sultry bob that had been styled into loose waves.
On Instagram, Bouwer described Sweeney in his archival gown as "beautiful" as he gave her stylist a shoutout for coordinating the look.
"From the archives. Worn to the Oscars in 2004 by Angelina Jolie, and now on the beautiful @sydney_sweeney," he wrote in the post's caption as he shared photos of Sweeney from Sunday night. "On its 20th anniversary I couldn’t ask for a better revival. Thank you @mollyddickson for your impeccable styling & @paulmargolin for helping to make this happen!"

The Anyone But You star talked to PEOPLE about her current style mantra just days before Sunday's starry event — and after making a show-stopping appearance at the fall/winter 2024-2025 Miu Miu show at Paris Fashion Week in a pair of metallic underwear that retail for $5,800.
"I honestly just vibe with whatever event's going on," Sweeney said of her sense of style. "It's always a little bit different."
"That's the fun thing about all of this, it's like playing dress-up. It's boring to do the same thing over and over again."

She also weighed in on whether she plans to attend the 2024 Met Gala — one of fashion's biggest nights — as she teased, "Maybe, maybe not."
"I might be working," she admitted. "We're trying to figure it out, so we'll see."
Sweeney's Vanity Fair Oscars Party look was also reminiscent of an outfit she wore late last year as she attended the premiere of her romcom Anyone But You with Glen Powell in Australia.
For the premiere in Sydney, Sweeney wore a Givenchy Spring Summer 2024 outfit designed by Matthew M. Williams, with the sheer ensemble consisting of a pale yellow two-piece design featuring a draped top with an open back and a matching skirt.
