Yahoo News Sylvester Stallone removes Paulie’s robot from director's cut of Rocky IV
Sylvester Stallone has revealed that a Rocky IV scene featuring Paulie's robot has been removed ahead of the release of the film's director's cut.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday, August 30, the action movie icon noted that the new special edition is set to coincide with the outing's 35th anniversary this coming November, and said that so far "it looks great".
"Soulful..," Stallone, who wrote and helmed the picture back in 1985 and has been editing his brand new take during lockdown, continued.
"Thank you MGM for this opportunity to entertain."

Wanting more details about the forthcoming version, it didn't take long for fans to fill the comments section with questions.
One specifically asked whether Sico, the mechanical maid owned by Rocky's brother-in-law Paulie Pennino (Burt Young) would have a bigger role in the new cut of the iconic film, to which Stallone candidly replied: "The robot is going to the junkyard forever. No more robot."
Choosing not to elaborate further on why droid didn't make it into his version, the actor simply stated to another inquisitive follower: "I don't like the robot anymore." Well, we guess that's fair enough.

Rocky IV, which is the most financially successful instalment within the long-spanning franchise, sees the titular boxer (Stallone) face off against Soviet Union-based brawler Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) to avenge the death of his best friend Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers).
In reality, Sico was created by engineer Robert Doornick, with the aim of helping autistic children. In an earlier interview, Doornick explained that there were scenes featuring the robot that didn't make it into the movie.

"Paulie and the robot had developed an odd couple relationship, with the robot complaining that Paulie always slept in the same t-shirt and made too much cigar smoke. The robot 'found it offensive to [his] sensors,'" he told Trivia Happy, recalling how Paulie then messed with the machine's circuits and caused its voice to change from male to female.
"Most people in the movie don't understand why the robot switched from a normal voice to a female voice. That's why."
