Symptoms '90% of bowel cancer sufferers experience' as This Morning star dies
This week it was confirmed that celebrity hairdresser Trevor Sorbie had died following his terminal cancer diagnosis.
The British hairdresser - who has appeared on ITV's This Morning to give hair care advice - revealed only weeks ago that a cancer he had been diagnosed with in 2019 had spread. On Friday, it was confirmed he had died.
According to Cancer Research, around 44,100 new bowel cancer cases are diagnosed in the UK every year. This works out at around 120 every day. It's the fourth most common cancer in the UK, as it accounts for 11% of all new cancer cases. Although these statistics can alarm people, there are signs you can look out for to spot it early.
Dr Karan Raj, known as @dr.karanr on TikTok, previously shared some common health symptoms people with bowel cancer experience. While you shouldn't worry if you have any of them, it's always wise to remain alert and get checked out if you have concerns.

In a simple explainer video, Dr Raj said: "These are some common symptoms of colon cancer (bowel cancer). Unintentional weight loss, bleeding from the rectum or blood found in the stool, a persistent change in bowel habit which is not normal for you - either pooing more often with looser stool or pooing less often with harder stool.
"Persistent abdominal pain, discomfort or bloating. It's important to know that most people with these symptoms don't have bowel cancer but, 90% of people with bowel cancer have at least one, or a combination of these symptoms. And people who have had one or more of these symptoms for more than four weeks should see their doctor."
The video has been viewed more than 57,000 times, and people were quick to comment too. Some shared their own heartbreaking experiences with the illness.
One person said: "This is what my grandad currently has." Another wrote: "I have all of these symptoms, besides weight loss. Going for a second colon cancer test in a few days."
A third also replied: "I had symptoms for years, but my GP didn't believe me. I changed GP. I had a really big tumour removed - that was 11 years ago. I'm so lucky to be here."
