Syrian Civil Defense Reports 8 Volunteers Dead in Strikes on Hama Center

The Syrian Civil Defense reported on April 29 that at least eight of its volunteers, also known as White Helmets, were killed in airstrikes on a center operated by the group near Kafr Zita, in northern Hama province, that day.

Videos shared by the group’s branch in Hama province were described as showing the bodies of volunteers being pulled from rubble. Another video was said to show the aerial bombardment of the area which resulted in the deaths of the volunteers.

A pro-opposition media activist, Hadi al-Abdallah, also shared video which was said to show the moments of the strikes on the center. He said a Syrian Civil Defense center in Kafr Zita was destroyed. He also claimed cluster munitions were dropped though these claims are unverified.

Neither the source of the strikes nor the death toll can be independently confirmed.
