Syrian Foreign Minister Says Army Has 'Never Used Chemical Weapons'

Storyful

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem held a press conference in Damascus on April 6 denying the military’s “use of any chemical weapons against civilians or terrorists” in response to the suspected chemical attack in Khan Shaykhun on April 4.

Muallem said that the allegations of chemical weapons use were fabricated and unsubstantiated. He said Syria had had bad experiences with United Nations investigators in the past, in response to a question about potential investigations into the Khan Shaykhun attack.

He said any investigation into the use of chemical weapons in Khan Shaykhun would be overtly politicized by Turkey and the United States. Credit: YouTube/Alikhbaria via Storyful
