Syrian Rebels Say They've 'Liberated' Hama Prison
Syrian rebels published footage on December 5 described as showing the “first scenes” of “liberating prisoners from Hama Central Prison,” as Syrian state media said rebels had managed to enter parts of the city.
The footage, which Storyful confirmed was filmed at the prison, shows people walking with bags around the grounds and a scene of reunification as several children can be seen hugging a man.
State media said rebels were “able to penetrate several axes in the city and enter it.”
Other footage published by al-Askare shows their correspondent at the city’s al-Arbaeen roundabout as he says fighters are “combing through” the city and that “with God’s permission” it would be under their complete control in a “few hours.” Credit: Al-Askare via Storyful
